The innovation platform collects and communicates real time data and other type of information provided by the partners in the ElectriCity project with the purpose to enable and facilitate internal and external development of new products and services.
Purpose & Aim
The innovation platform enables internal and external development of new products and services by collecting and making available information from all the different partners in the ElectriCity cooperation. The aim is to making public transport more attractive and the plan is to test, demonstrate and evaluate new ideas on route 55. In addition the innovation platforms aims to build knowledge and facilitate research and cooperation.
The platform provides information on the buses, bus stops, charging stations and other parts of route 55, bus also links to information regarding public transport in Region Västra Götaland and other sources. Initially the information serves as input when creating new concepts and prototypes for Electricity Innovation Challenge 2015.
The Library contains static information on route 55 and ElectriCity – for example technical specifications, photos and drawings.
Real time information is made available via an API - application programming interface. Examples of available real time data is the GPS-position of the bus, inside temperature and whether someone has pressed the Stop button. For the full list of available data and how to get access to it, see API documentation.
To be tested in ElectriCity Innovation Challenge 2015
ElectriCity Innovation Challenge 2015 will serve as a first test of the platform’s potential to facilitate innovation. When the challenge takes off on Sept 18 2015 the platform will provide real time data from the public transport authority, the operator and the vehicle manufacturer plus data and information from other installations along bus route 55 .
The cloud based platform is built on Ericsson software and can be scaled up outside ElectriCity. New data sources may be connected continuously during 2015-2018 and later, provided the platform is successful. The platform may serve as a basis for a regional platform to strengthen innovation and collaboration in the region and more specifically future cooperative projects involving multiple partners.
The development of the platform has been done in a cooperative project financed by the Regional Development Secretariat at Region Västra Götaland
Partners in the project are Chalmers, Cybercom, Ericsson, Icomera, Interactive Swedish ICT, Keolis, Lindholmen Science Park, Pilotfish, Viktoria Swedish ICT, Volvo Bussar and Västtrafik.
